Facial Acupressure Therapy

in Mumbles, Gower, Swansea

The skin, muscles and fascia of the face have a unique structure to allow us to express ourselves intellectually and emotionally, meaning we hold a huge amount of tension and stress in our facial structure, especially the jaw, which can lead to tension headaches or migraines.

Facial Acupressure therapy is a deeply relaxing treatment that covers the head, face, neck, shoulders and scalp. It treats and releases the fascia in these areas, to support emotional and stress relief, and soothe muscle tension. It also incorporates working with the Chinese Acupressure facial map, which involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the face, head and neck, which are believed to correspond to different organs and functions in the body.

Fascia is the connective tissue that supports muscles, bones and organs and can be affected by emotional trauma, leading to tightness and restrictions in the scalp, neck and face. This can manifest as pain and stiffness and reduced range of motion.

When we work with these areas using various facial massage techniques, along with lymphatic drainage, it helps to:

  • Unblock congested energy
  • Strengthen weak energy and
  • Calm overactive energy
  • Allow mind processing
  • Deeply relax the nervous system

benefiting, not just the face, but ultimately improving the body’s overall balance and wellbeing and promoting rejuvenation of the facial structure.

Each treatment will be tailored to suit your physical and emotional wellbeing..

What to Expect

Following an initial free 10-15 minute consultation, you will be invited to make yourself comfortable on the couch, with a blanket to keep you warm during your treatment. You may find it easier to remove heavy, upper garments of clothes and ideally wear a strappy vest for the treatment. I will encourage you at the start to take some deep breaths to enable you to begin to fully relax – we will do this at your own pace and only what feels comfortable and manageable for you..

  • Following this you will experience a soothing massage targeting the neck, decolletage, shoulders and scalp, working the tissues to release tension.

  • The treatment will progress with a cleanse with a luxurious hot towel steam that opens pores and stimulates blood and lymph flow.

  • This is followed by a gentle application of acupressure to the face, utilising fingertip pressure, accompanied by focused facial massage to help release tension in congested areas.

  • Light pressure flow work focussing on draining the lymphatic system completes the treatment.

Aftercare:

Following your Holistic Acupressure facial, as with all treatments I will encourage you to drink plenty of fluids (up to 2 litres a day) for 24 -48 hours to help flush out the toxins which have been released during the course of your treatment. I also advise that you to try and reduce intake of tea, coffee or alcohol. And to try and avoid putting any make up on to allow your skin to breathe.
